This page contains valuable information and resources for CBD Evolve members.
If you ever need a substitute to attend in your place for one of our Tuesday morning meetings, here’s a handy list of contacts who might be able to make themselves available for you.
Visitors are the lifeblood of the future growth of the chapter and inviting visitors is key to this. When thinking of people to invite, consider the types of business categories that you could easily refer to, as well as business categories that could easily refer to you. Here are some handy hints and resources to help making visitors easy:
1. Email them an invitation.
Here is some suggested wording for your email invitation – make sure you personalise your details!
Dear (first name),
I’d like to invite you to the BNI CBD Evolve business referrals networking breakfast meeting on Tuesday morning, (date here). Our members are business owners who are always looking to pass quality referrals to other quality businesses.
Business meeting details are as follows:
Address: The Pavilion Restaurant at 1 Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney
Time: 6:30am to 8.30 am (for a 7 am sit down start)
Parking – There is plenty of metered parking all along Art Gallery Rd from The Art Gallery all the way past the Botanic Gardens. The meters take credit cards as well as coins and you are able to set the meters at least until 10 am if you choose. Please be aware that the parking inspectors in the Domain are incredibly vigilant and “trigger happy”. If you need to be in the city much later than the parking meters allow, The Domain parking station is also a good option.
Public transport – You could catch a train to St James, cross Hyde Park and walk into the Domain or to Martin Place and cut through Sydney Hospital grounds and across the Domain. Both options involve about a 10 minute walk.
Cost – Attendance at the meeting costs $50 and includes a hot breakfast served during the meeting; please bring the correct cash for payment at the door. Even better, you can book online – simply click here.
What to bring – Plenty of business cards (recommend 50 or more) and any other advertising/marketing material for conveyance that you have (which will be distributed on a tray during the meeting).
How to prepare – Come along and start the day by networking with some highly motivated professionals at our structured but relaxed breakfast, you’ll only need to introduce yourself to the team and then sit back, relax and enjoy the breakfast as we run through some formalities and then spend some time to make those valuable business connections before heading back to your busy week.
BNI groups are based on exclusive categories, one lawyer, one architect, one chiropractor, one electrician etc. Depending on your future business growth strategy, you might find this word of mouth marketing highly effective for your business, in which case we can look at whether you are a fit for our group.

We all look forward to meeting you Tuesday morning, finding out about your business and seeing if we can do business together.

BNI’s CATS (Chapter Accountability Tracking System) measures the number of internal referrals, external referrals, dollar value of all referrals, visitors brought and attendance at meetings. The report is for everybody in the chapter not just the Leadership Team and the Membership Committee. All members in a chapter should be concerned about the level of activity of members and the results they are getting.
Why CATS? Without CATS it’s difficult to get a sense of who is doing great, and who needs mentoring and support. Everybody in the chapter needs to contribute. CATS is a sophisticated measure of performance that gives different weightings to the activities that lead to closed business.
CATS (month) BNI Guidelines (month)
Less: 2 for absent/late Less: 0 point (net of subs)
Plus: 1-10 for closed biz Plus: 2-4 points ave
Plus: 1 internal referral Plus: 2 points ave
Plus: 2 external referral Plus: 4 points ave
Plus: 2 for visitors Plus: 2 points ave
Plus: 1 for 121s Plus: 4-10 points
The biggest investment we make in a Chapter is our time, the time we invest in each other. The ROI we get on that time comes back to the quality of the people we attract, and the quality of the engagement we get between members of the group.
In order to ensure we are all aware of how we’re tracking in the way we are perceived by others in the Chapter, BNI Regional Office offers the opportunity to do a 360 deg ‘checkup’ for members. There are 2 ‘checkup’ options, one focused on how you are perceived as being referrable, and the other relates specifically to how well you build your relationships through one-to-ones.
As a leadership team, we have requested the 360 on One-to-Ones to give you confidential feedback from the membership, who are voting anonymously, on how well you are perceived to be executing your one-to-ones.
Here are the questions you will be asked:
“I’m setting up the BNI360 on One-to-Ones and I’m considering the following questions when rating each member:
1. How would you rate the preparation done for the One-to-One?
2. How would you rate the sincerity of engagement to learn and help with opportunities for you?
3. How would you rate the agreed actions at the end of the meeting?
4. How would you rate the degree to which agreed actions were followed up?
You will be requested to provide a scaled response, from 1 to 7, 1 being awful and 7 being perfect.
You will answer the questions anonymously, although if you decide to enter your name it will not be shared. All results go to the Executive Director, Bob Greenup, and no one else. You will be issued with your specific results – it’s up to you if you want to share them with other members. We need 80% response rate to trigger the analysis, and only the Executive Director will have all the results. Regardless of your participation, others will rate you, so to make it worthwhile please participate.
